What we mean when we say ‘safety net’

Hello JWF Supporters,

Since I founded the JWF 501(c)3 in 2010, I’ve had the great pleasure of witnessing the power of our community in action. In that time, countless musicians, fans, and businesses have enabled our Musicians Health & Services Program to support more than 400 musicians and their families, providing more than $1.5 million in emergency assistance grants and navigation services.

Those numbers are inspiring, but they aren’t the whole story. Each one of those numbers is a person: a musician or other industry professional in our community experiencing a medical or health-related crisis. This year, our grant recipients included a musician caring for a family member with a terminal illness, a community member in mental health crisis, and a musician in need of surgery to correct a severe eye condition. We’ve helped musicians cover living expenses while medical issues interrupted their ability to play gigs and guided community members through the process of applying for food assistance and housing resources.

None of this would be possible without your generous donations.

Our community needs the safety net that the JWF provides. In 2023, we received 46 new applicants to our Musician Health & Services program–more than double the number of applicants in 2022–and we’ve granted more than $45,000 in financial assistance.

Looking ahead to 2024 we anticipate the number of applicants to continue to increase.

We’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $60,000 to fund our Musicians Health & Services Program for the year. And we have almost reached our goal!

Will you make a tax deductible gift today? Your donation will go directly to musicians and industry professionals who reach out for our help in 2024.

Musicians and the broader local music industry bring so much to our community. The JWF Musicians Health & Services Program is a way for fans to say thank you, by ensuring musicians have a place to turn in times of medical crisis.

Thank you for being part of our community, and for working together with us to provide a vital safety net for musicians in need. I look forward to seeing you in 2024 at one of our annual events.

Peace & Love & Happy New Year!
